“I haven’t seen like this, since I was a little kid”. Those were the special words I heard after I inserted a pair of Scleral lenses into my partially blind patient�s eyes. He will now be able to see his 2 year old daughter and play with her. His wife was wiping away tears. It was a special moment. I initially thought I was going to have to refer my patient to our Corneal specialist for surgical repair. The family was so thrilled that they didn’t have to go through a risky and difficult recovery process. It is cases like these when I remember to never take sight for granted.
