These are plastic strips that are placed in your cornea, if you have keratoconus. These strips stretch the cornea, creating a less irregular lens, and can slow down the progression of this disease, until a corneal transplant is needed.
This is a procedure that strips off the faulty inner lining of the cornea (endothelium) and replaces it with a new endothelium. Thirty percent of these cases fail, because the transplant doesn't stick to the patient's stroma. However, when it works, the recovery is within six weeks.
